La Y Health Center

The Minga Foundation, formerly known as FHN USA (Foundation Human Nature) was originally established in 2003 to improve access to healthcare for individuals in El Páramo region of rural coastal Ecuador. Working over decades, Minga helped to establish the region's first healthcare center.

Project Overview

Over the years, Minga has worked on a number of projects in the El Páramo region including:

Coordination of Medical and Public Health Volunteers (2003-2010)

Health Education and Health Promotion (2003-2014)

Women’s Rights and Reproductive Health (2003-2014)

Ambulance, First Aid, and Community Health Worker Training (2003-2015)

Vaccination Campaigns (2003-2014)

SaludCom Communications Project (2010-2014): Project SaludCom was a multi-year collaboration between Nokia, The Minga Foundation, and Fundación MeHiPro, aimed at increasing access to healthcare in rural areas of coastal Ecuador. Using cellular technology, the project connected remote communities to the region’s rural health center and facilitated the collection of demographic and epidemiological data.
