Karin Friederic

Karin is an Associate Professor of Cultural and Applied Anthropology at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Her research, teaching, and nonprofit expertise are in global health, human rights, development, gender, violence, and disability. As a Minga co-founder, Karin has a long history of working at our first project site in Ecuador, working closely with rural coastal communities to obtain health care services and mobilize against gender violence. Her book, The Prism of Human Rights (2023, Rutgers University Press), examines how ideas about human rights have changed understandings of and responses to intimate partner violence in that same region over the past twenty years.
